My grand ole’ Gran

She is beautiful
Not in the way of paegents
But of old world charmers
In the ballads of poets of yore.

She is beautiful
In the tinkle of her bangles
As she tucks away a wayward strand
Of her wispy silver hair.

She is beautiful
In the indefatigable concentration
With which she stoops
Over her pot of boiling stew.

She is beautiful
In her mumbled prayers
In that singsong rhythm
So uniquely hers.

She is beautiful
In her easy loving ways
In her gentle perseverance
In her mellifluous voice.

She is beautiful
In her failing watchful eyes
In her hard-of-hearing sharp ears
In her failing conscientious memory.

Oh yes, she is beautiful, my grand old gran!

The prompt for Day 10 of NaPoWriMo 2017 is to write a poem that is a portrait of someone important to you and I am writing about my favourite person in the whole wide world!
